Apparently, the Feelings are Mutual

In my opinion, when Fidel Castro praises you, it is proof that you are doing something wrong. But Castro seems to have a lot good to say about Obama (and a lot bad to say about the "racist" right).

But apparently there is a lot of love in the air recently. Liberal Representative Diane Watson is a big fan of Castro herself (and seems to agree on the racism thing).

So, the left and Castro can agree on a lot. Should we really trust them with health care - or anything else for that matter?

And go here for a disturbing look into what Cuba is really like.

While I agree that the whole racism thing is just stupid I don't agree with you about the whole Fidel Castro, he's actually great, not as much as Hugo Chavez or Che Guevara, but close

When I heard Watson's love fest for Castro, I just thought, "How can her people keep voting for her?!"

Hey Luigi - I would be interested to know what was good about Castro...from everything I heard, people risked death to leave Cuba and get away from his regime. People had very little freedom. What am I missing?
Same with Hugo Chavez - what does he do that is great? Repressing your people is a good thing?

I just reread my comment and realized that I forgot to add that I was talking about Health Care. Cuban health care is among the best in the world, and it would be even better without the U.S. embargo, so basically I was disagreeing with you on the whole "If Castro praises you, you are doing something wrong."

And I mentioned Venezuela because their health care is above the average in South America and they too have Universal Health Care.

I'm not sure if you are basing your assertion on Cuba's health care on statistics (which are very misleading - for example, they improve their infant mortality rate by aborting fetuses they think might have medical problems and the parents are not allowed to reject the abortion) or on the propaganda given out by the Cuban government. But while they might give good care to tourists, they do not give good care to their own citizens.

Here is just one example of someone pulling the cover off Cuban health care - those pictures should disturb anyone

Actually, those pictures aren't from Cuban hospitals, it's actually a hospice, but I agree, the images are horrible, and still no human should live, or die, in those conditions.

And yes, I know about their apartheid healthcare, but Cuban healthcare is very different from what Obama is proposing.

His is actually based on Massachussets healthcare and it is being expanded to the entire country. Look up Commonwealth Care if you don't know what it is.

yes, the Massachusetts universal health care system has had some successes, but it is running into serious cost problems - the idea that we can insure everyone in the country and not add to the deficit can only be possible if we ration care, which is not something I can ever support.

There are ways to ensure everyone is covered without a public option or the government taking over the health care industry and I would like to see our government pursue those options instead of what it is currently doing.
